Crude oil prices posted modest gains on Friday, supported by reports indicating
a positive start to talks between Iran and the United States. Hopes that
renewed engagement may help calm tensions and avert a broader conflict have
led markets to unwind part of the geopolitical risk premium embedded in crude
prices. Hence, Brent crude gained 0.7% to $68.05 per barrel.
