Crude oil prices rose sharply on Monday as military escalation between Israel,
the U.S., and Iran forced energy facility shutdowns and hampered shipping in
the Strait of Hormuz. Saudi Arabia closed its main refinery after a drone strike,
Qatar stopped LNG production, and QatarEnergy moved toward force majeure
on exports. Some 150 vessels were left waiting near the strait. Hence, Brent
crude surged by 7.3% to $77.74 per barrel, highest since June 2025.
